Exciting new Certificate in Animal Psychoaromatica

I am delighted to be able to tell you about a new professional level course that I am involved with.

The course has been developed by Nayana Morag one of the world's foremost authorities on essential oils for animals and is co-taught by Marilyn Peters who holds a Master's degree in Behavioural Sciences and assisted in the UK by Pauhla Whitaker, Essential oil therapist, and Reiki Master and in the USA by the multi-skilled Wendy Wolfe.

Holistic Partnership Healing... Reiki Therapist Course for People and Animals

After it's launch last year, the HPH course is really gaining in momentum and the first students completed their case studies and received their certificates this summer.

The standard has been excellent and the passion and commitment of students is obvious, especially when most people are fitting in their training around other work and family commitments.

The course is designed so that therapists gain an understanding of the role of the human carer in their animal's health and well-being and the solutions that may be required to restore balance within the partnership. Because of the close relationship we have with our animals, and our expectations for them, it is impossible to separate healing the animal from healing the human and the most effective approach is to work on the animal and his or her human carer as a "Holistic Partnership". In this way, we relieve the symptoms of the problem and understand and release the underlying cause. For this reason, tuition in human Reiki and personal (self) healing is vital to the understanding of healing and is a pre-requisite for animal work.

This course is as the human therapist course but includes further, comprehensive tuition on the safe and ethical treatment of animals by Reiki within current Veterinary legislation plus protocols, record-keeping, ethics, codes of conduct and standards for treatment so that newly qualified therapists have the confidence to go out and start up their healing practice.
Students will be required to submit 4 human and 4 animal case studies in order to complete their training.

The cost of this therapist level course is £250 and includes lunch, refreshments and all course material and on-going support so if you feel you have the passion and commitment to make Animal and Human healing your career then please get in touch.

I am still running courses to demand for the current year but will be releasing dates for next year in the near future.

An Introduction to Essential Oils for Animals... a practical workshop for pet owners.

In response to those of you who have asked if I ever travel "north of Tewkesbury" (like north of Watford but scarier!!!) I will be teaching a one-day workshop in Shropshire on Sunday 20th January. Although the day is being organised primarily with dog owners in mind, all the information will relate to other animals and I will be happy to cover different species according to the animals that attendees have contact with. The day will be split between theory in the morning and practical sessions with animals in the afternoon and will be a hands-on day with lots of "doing".

If you would like further information, please

Natural First Aid for Animals Large and Small... an integrated approach to animal care...
Sunday 14th Sept 2008

•  Are you interested in natural remedies for animals?

•  Would you like to use more natural first aid treatments for your animals but are unsure when simple first aid is appropriate or when you should call the vet?

•  Then this unique one-day workshop is for you !

What's it all about?...

Embracing the approach of integrated medicine, this workshop aims to show you how you can use natural treatments to help your animals safely, alongside the care and support of your veterinary surgeon.

Who are the teachers?...

The course is taught by Mary Lindo (MGEOTA), an experienced Veterinary Nurse who is also a trained Essential Oil Therapist for Animals and a cat and dog owner, and Pauhla Whitaker (MGEOTA), who is also an Essential Oil Therapist for Animals, a Human and Animal Reiki teacher of some 7 years standing and a working organic farmer, horse and pet owner. Both teachers trained with and are Full Practicing Members of the Guild of Essential Oil Therapists for Animals (GEOTA).

What will I learn?...

In the morning, Mary will guide you through a point-by-point plan that will help you assess your animal and decide when veterinary care is necessary. You will also learn about the steps you should take in the event of more serious problems, to help your animal while you wait for veterinary attention.

In the second part of the day, Pauhla will show you how you can use essential oils and other natural preparations for basic first aid care of non-urgent conditions and also looks as what you can do to help your animal emotionally and physically to help support it when veterinary care is necessary. We won't forget the owner either and will look at essential oils that can be helpful to support an owner during the stress and worry experienced when their pet is ill and we will also look at how the owner's emotional state may affect their pet's recovery.

We will finish the day with a look at some case studies from Pauhla and Mary's trip to work at an animal hospital in India in November 2007 and will learn how essential oil treatments were used to help street dogs with a variety of problems from serious wounds to leg amputations to kennel stress, followed by a Q&A session where you will be able to discuss any issues that are of particular interest or relevance to your own animals and situation.

When is it and where is the course being held?...

The date is Sunday 14 th September 2008 from 9.30am to 5pm approx. The venue is Overtown Farm, Cranham, Gloucestershire, a working organic farm owned by the National Trust in the heart of the Cotswold Hills. A second course will run at Pennerley, near Shrewsbury, Shropshire in Spring 2009.

What does it cost and what else is on offer?...

Your course fee is £45 and includes all tuition and full course notes to back up your learning. The day will include both theory and practical sessions with animals. There will also be a range of essential oils and products available for purchase so you can stock your own Natural First Aid Kit ! Drinks and biscuits will be provided at breaks and lunch but please bring a picnic lunch with you.

In order to provide the best possible opportunity for learning and facilitate supervised, hands-on sessions, places will be limited. If you are interested in reserving a place on this course, please contact:

AnimOILS goes to India!

I will be traveling to India in late October 2007 to work for a month as a volunteer at an animal shelter in Rajasthan, North West India. The shelter is run by a veterinary charity, Tree of Life for Animals ( www.tolfa.org.uk ) set up by my friend and fellow Essential Oil Therapist for Animals, Rachel Wright who is a vet nurse and I will be traveling out there along with my friend Mary who is also a vet nurse and Essential Oil Therapist for Animals, and Brenda, who is the wife of my wonderful web-designer, Mike.

We travel out on October 29th and Mary and I return on 24th November. Brenda on the other hand is staying out there for her birthday and Mike will be joining her for a week's holiday.

We will be working 6 days per week with anything from dogs, cats, camels, monkeys, goats, cows to donkeys and will be involved with the day to day work of the shelter which includes rounding up street dogs to treat, spay/castrate, vaccinate against rabies and release back into their "patch" where they do a sterling job controlling the wild rats which can spread rabies. They also hold daily goat health clinics for local farmers, take in animal road traffic accident victims for treatment (usually cattle or donkeys) and are also working to train lay-people in the area to provide basic animal care advice such as hoof trimming for donkeys.

This is also an ideal opportunity to further my experience with essential oils with both domestic and "exotics" and I am looking forward to being able to work with the emotional issues that arise as a result of animals arriving at the shelter.

I have decided that as this is a once in a lifetime trip, I am not going to try to raise sponsorship to pay for it as I don't feel I should ask other people to subsidise my adventure, even if it isn't technically a holiday, but I am trying to raise as much money as I can to take out as a donation to the charity so if you feel you would like to contribute then I would be very happy to hear from you.

In the meantime, if you would like to know more, please go to http://tolfa.org.uk/pages/newsletter-may-2007

I have also created a blog where I hope to be able to write about my time in India. The address is http://www.pauhla.bravejournal.com/

There is supposed to be good internet access where we are staying but if I can't keep it up to date then I will chart the whole story on there when I get home. Please be aware that I will not be able to send out any orders or respond to emails while I am away.

*** Sarcoid case study write-up ***

I am getting a steady stream of Sarcoid cases and have recently signed off one of my clients as a successful case after his last sarcoid fell off. In response to requests for more details of how the treatment can progress, I have added new case study write up of a horse with multiple, ulcerated sarcoids on the AnimOILS page. I have been working with Fella and his owner since October 2004 and Fella's case is a good example of what can be achieved with dedication and persistence on the part of the owner. His progress is particularly pleasing as his is by far the worst Sarcoid case I have tackled so far. To read about Fella's progress, click here

"Intermediate" Essential Oils Workshop

I have had several requests for two day Essential Oils for Animals workshops for those people who have previous experience of working with essential oils or are working with other therapies or would like more in depth information on animal work. In response to this, I have put together an "intermediate" course which runs over two days and incorporates more kinesiology (muscle testing) techniques, a wider range of essential oils and further information on blending specific products such as gels, fly treatments and first aid gels etc.

The cost is £150 and includes a comprehensive course manual, a set of oils selected by you using kinesiology to take home for an animal of your choice, lunch and refreshments, theory and hands-on animal work and a certificate of completion and may be booked either for a small group or on a one-to-one tuition basis.

For more information, please contact me

*** NEW *** AnimOILS Essential Oil Therapy Workshops

I am now able to offer "An Introduction to Essential Oil Therapy for Animals" workshops for people who are interested in learning how to use essential oils safely, for the benefit of their animals both large and small. Workshops are available for groups and also for individuals on a one-to-one tuition basis. Please see the AnimOILS Essential Oil Therapy page for more information.

Talks and Lecture/Demos

I am very happy to take bookings for evening or daytime talks to groups and for half day informal "taster" lecture/demos at livery yards or for dog training clubs, riding clubs and other organisations. If you are interested then please contact me for more information.

2004

I am delighted to announce that I passed my diploma in essential oil therapy for animals with the Guild of Essential Oil Therapists for Animals (GEOTA) this spring and am now fully qualified to work as an animal essential oil therapist.

I would like to thank all those customers, friends and clients who have been so supportive during my training over the last 18 months and especially those who allowed me to work with them and their animals to produce the case studies for my course. Some of these are available for you to read on the Animoils page.

Details of how essential oil therapy works, what to expect and how to book a consultation are also included on the AnimOILS page. Click here for more information.
